"CopyCat " malware effects million of android users around the world





A new malware dubbed CopyCat has affected more than 14 million Android devices around the world, rooting phones and hijacking applications to make millions in fraudulent advertisement revenue.
“CopyCat is a mobile malware targeting Android devices that uses state-of-the-art technology to conduct ad fraud. Upon infection, it roots the user’s device, allowing attackers to gain full control of the device.”
The malware has been discovered by security researchers at Check Point. The malware has abilities to root infected devices and it uses different exploits, including CVE-2013-6282 (VROOT), CVE-2015-3636 (PingPongRoot), and CVE-2014-3153 (Towelroot) to infect devices running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and earlier
“CopyCat abuses the Zygote process to display fraudulent ads while hiding their origin, making it difficult for users to understand what’s causing the ads to pop-up on their screens,”
The malware is able to replace the Referrer ID on the applications with its own ID, so every ad that pops up on the app will send revenue to the attackers instead of the app’s authors. Every now and then, it will also throw in its own ads for an extra buck.
“CopyCat tries to find a referrer id for this package locally in shared preferences. If such an id isn’t found, CopyCat sends a request to the servern http://api.tracksummer.com/api/v1/get and uses the answer as a referrer id, which is a value used in tracking ad campaigns and attributing them to the publisher who promoted the app and will receive the money for the installation. With the fraudulent referrer id, CopyCat creates an INSTALL_REFERRER intent, and sets the extra field “flags” to value “20”, to avoid being blocked by its own injected module.”

How to do port scanning with Nmap and collect sensative informations.




Nmap is a free and open source tool for network scanning and security auditing. Many systems and network administrators also see it useful for many tasks such as network inventory, managing service upgrade schedules, and monitoring host or service uptime.
It’s the most famous port scanning tool. It can integrate with Metasploit quite easily, storing scan output in a database backend for later use. Nmap helps pen testers scan hosts to identify the running services.
One of the preferred nmap options is “-sS”. The option runs a stealth TCP scan that decides whether a specific TCP-based port is open. Another preferred option is “-Pn”, which instructs Nmap not to use ping to decide whether a system is running; instead, it considers all hosts “alive.” If you’re doing Internet-based penetration tests, you should use this option, because most networks don’t allow Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP), which is the protocol that ping uses. If you’re performing this scan internally, you can probably ignore this flag.
By using the “-A” option. This option will try advanced service enumeration and banner grabbing, which may give more details about the target system. For example, here’s what we’d see if we were to call nmap with the “-sS” and “-A” options:

The vast reach of Kaspersky’s technology is somewhat the result of authorizing agreements that allow consumers to quietly install the software in everything from firewalls to delicate telecommunications equipment neither of which carry the Kaspersky name.
That success is beginning to worry U.S. state security officials concerned regarding the company’s links to the Russian government. In beginning, May six U.S. intelligence and government enforcement agency chiefs were urged in an open Senate hearing whether they’d let their systems use Kaspersky software, often located on Best Buy shelves. The answer was a collective and resounding no. The problem, from Florida Republican Marco Rubio, appeared out of nowhere, often a sign a politician is trying to indirectly draw attention to being learned in classified briefings. 
Eugene Kaspersky took to Reddit to answer. Claims about Kaspersky Lab’s links to the Kremlin are “unproven conspiracy theories” and “total BS,” the company’s tumultuous, barrel-chested chief executive officer wrote. While the U.S. administration hasn’t revealed any evidence of the ties, private company emails obtained by Businessweek News show that Kaspersky Lab has kept a much closer fashioning relationship with Russia’s main intelligence agency, the FSB, then it has openly admitted. It has improved security technology at the spy agency’s behest and worked on joint projects the CEO acknowledged would be embarrassing if made public.  
Most major cyber security organizations maintain close ties to home governments, but the emails are at odds with Kaspersky Lab’s precisely controlled image of being free from Moscow’s influence. Kaspersky’s business with Russian intelligence could frighten off business in Western Europe and the U.S., where Russian cyber transactions have grown increasingly aggressive, including efforts to influence elections. Western Europe and the U.S. accounted for $374 million of the company’s $633 million in sales in 2016, according to researcher International Data Corp.
 Antivirus firms are especially delicate because the results they make have access to every file on the computers they protect.

The Thompson sub machine gun is an American sub machine gun, invented by John T. Thompson in 1918, that became infamous during the Prohibition era. It was a common sight in the media of the time, being used by both law enforcement officers and criminals. Early versions of the Thompson, the Model of 1919, had a fairly high cyclic rate of fire, as high as 1,200 rounds per minute (rpm), with most Model of 1921 at 800 rpm. In 1927, the U.S. Navy ordered 500 Thompsons but requested a lower rate of fire. Thompson requested Payne develop a method of reducing the cyclic rate of fire. Payne replaced the actuator with a heavier one and the recoil spring with a stiffer one; the changes reduced the rate of fire from 800 to the 600 rpm of the U.S.Navy Model of 1928. Later M1 and M1A1 Thompsons averaged also 600 rpm. This rate of fire, combined with a rather heavy trigger pull and a stock with an excessive drop, increases the tendency for the barrel to climb off target in automatic fire. Compared to modern 9mm submachine guns, the .45 Thompson is quite heavy, weighing roughly the same as the contemporary M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle, and requires lots of cleaning. Although the drum magazine provided significant firepower, in military service it was found to be overly heavy and bulky, especially when slung on patrol or on the march. The M1 Thompson drum magazine was rather fragile, and cartridges tended to rattle inside it, producing unwanted noise. For these reasons, the 20-round and later 30-round box magazines soon proved most popular with military users of the M1928A1, and drum compatibility was not included in the design of the wartime M1 and M1A1 models. The Thompson was one of the earliest submachine guns to incorporate a double-column, double-feed box magazine design, which undoubtedly contributed to the gun's reputation for reliability. The selective-fire (semi- or full automatic) Thompson fires from the "open bolt" position, in which the bolt is held fully to rearward by the sear when cocked. When the trigger is depressed, the bolt is released, traveling forward to chamber and simultaneously fire the first and subsequent rounds until either the trigger is released or the ammunition is exhausted. This eliminates the risk of "cook-off", which can sometimes occur in closed-bolt automatic weapons.

The MG 3 is a German general-purpose machine gun chambered for the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge. The weapon's design is derived from the World War II era MG 42 universal machine gun that fired the 7.92×57mm Mauser round.

The machine gun has an automatic-only trigger mechanism and a cross-bolt safety in the form of a button that is operated by the shooting hand (in its "safe" position the bolt release is disabled). The weapon fires from an open bolt. The cyclic rate can be altered by installing different bolts and recoil springs.
The MG 3 feeds from the left side through a feed block using metal, 50-round continuous-link DM1 ammunition belts (which can be combined by cartridge) or disintegrating-link M13 or DM6 belts.
